Lao Dongyan (PhD in Law) is Professor of Law and PhD supervisor at the School of Law, Tsinghua University. She serves as an Executive Board Member of the Chinese Association of Criminal Law and has previously held positions as the Vice Director of the Law and Policy Research Office of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate and the Vice President of the Haidian District People’s Court in Beijing. She has published over ninety academic papers in professional journals such as Social Sciences in China, China Legal Science and Chinese Journal of Law. She has also authored books including Criminal Law in the Risk Society, Functional Interpretation of Criminal Law and Narratives of the Localization of the Principle of Legality in Criminal Law.
